Highlights:

After two regulation halves and four scoreless overtime sessions, Millersville, the No. 3 seed, converted three kicks in the tiebreaker shootout to defeat Lock Haven, the No. 2 seed, in the semifinal game of the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Championships.

Millersville’s Doug Eby, Sean Davies and Brian Hanks all converted kicks for Millersville during the tiebreaker, while LHU came up empty due to three tremendous saves by MU goalkeeper B.J. Cradlin.

Millersville appeared to have taken the lead in the first non-sudden death overtime, when Ryan Hough kicked the ball past LHU goalkeeper Conor Fry on a deflection from four yards out. The play, however, was ruled offsides. Hough’s shot came as a result of a deflection, originally directed by Ciaran Dalton.

Both teams had several missed opportunities to score, especially in the overtime sessions. Lock Haven had three cracks at the Marauder goal with just under two minutes remaining in the third overtime (first sudden death OT). Richard Poole directed the first shot from 10-yards out on the left side, which was deflected toward Ian Auman from five yards away. Auman’s attempt was nearly redirected into the goal by Joe Kadelski before it trickled wide of the net. MU’s Sean Szerba nearly hit paydirt with 8:30 left in the fourth overtime, as his shot from 12 yards out was deflected by Fry off the crossbar.

Lock Haven recorded 10 shots on goal to Millersville’s eight. LHU held its most significant advantage in the fourth overtime session, outshooting MU 4-0. Overall, the Bald Eagles outshot the Marauders 5-2 in the four overtime periods.

Cradlin made eight saves while recording the shutout, five of which occurred during the four overtimes. Fry notched six saves, one in the extra frames.
