2003 Bald Eagle Football Season Underway

(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  The summer of 2003 drew to a close this morning for over 100 student-athletes and their coaches as the latest edition of the Lock Haven University football team arrived on campus to begin pre-season workouts. This year’s squad returns with last year’s entire starting defensive unit intact, including two pre-season All-America picks in linebacker Derrik Metz and defensive back/return specialist Rob Carey.  The offense also returns with a similar look with several experienced players at the skill positions including three-time All-PSAC West receiver Marcus Burkley.
Lock Haven will open the 2003 campaign with its first ever battle against a Patriot League opponent, traveling to Division I-AA Towson University on September 6 at 7 p.m..  The Bald Eagles remain on the road in week two, taking on Kutztown University on September 13 before opening up at home on the 20th with a match-up against the Eastern Division favorite Bloomsburg University at 7 p.m. in Hubert Jack Stadium.  The Haven’s PSAC Western Division series will kick-off with a home contest against California (Pa.) University on October 11. [Click on link to view full season preview for the 2003 Bald Eagles  >>>2003 LHU Football Season Outlook]
