Lady Eagle Soccer Ranked in NSCAA Pre-Season Poll

   
 

(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  The Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer team is ranked in a tie for 24th in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division II pre-season poll.

            Reigning national champion Christian Brothers University holds the top-ranked spot in the 2003 preseason list, followed by University of Nebraska-Omaha , last year’s national runner-up. Northern Kentucky University , Franklin Pierce College and Metro State University follow to round out the top five squads.

            The Lady Eagles are situated in a tie for 24th place in this year’s pre-season rankings after posting a 16-3-1 overall record in 2002.  Lock Haven, under then first-year head coach Shannon Champ, advanced to the NCAA Division II Northeast Region Championship before bowing out to Adelphi University .

            The 2003 edition of the Lady Eagle soccer team will open the season at home on McCollum Field on August 30-31 by hosting the LHU Tournament.  Lock Haven kicks off the year against Assumption College on Saturday at 3 p.m. on McCollum Field.  No. 21-ranked Bloomsburg University will face Philadelphia University in the 1 p.m. match-up.  Bloomsburg and Assumption play on Sunday at 1 p.m. , while Lock Haven will take on Philadelphia at 2 p.m.
