Three Haven Volleyball Players Named to Daktronics All-Region Team

   
  (Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Three Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania volleyball players, Kelli Crouch (Lancaster/Conestoga Valley), Shana Fessette (Plattsburgh, N.Y./Beekmantown Central), and Kara Warnke (Aurora, Ohio/Walsh Jesuit), were selected to the Daktronics All-Atlantic Region squad as released this week.  The program’s second year, a first team and second team are selected by the sports information directors of volleyball-playing institutions in the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region. Players on the first teams of all eight regions will be placed on the national ballot for All-America honors, to be announced on December 18. 
             Both Kelli Crouch and Shana Fessette earned First Team Daktronics All-Atlantic Region honors.  This is the first appearance on the Daktronics all-region list for senior outside hitter Kelli Crouch.  Crouch is also a two-time AVCA All-Atlantic Region and All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) selection.  She was among conference leaders all season and led the Lady Eagles with 522 kills (3.48 per game) and 494 digs (3.29 per game), along with 56 service aces.  Her digs total is a new LHU single season record, and now with 222 career service aces, she is second all-time at The Haven.
            Senior setter Shana Fessette caps off a stellar career at LHU with her second Daktronics First Team All-Atlantic Region honor.  This season, Fessette became Lock Haven’s all-time assists leader, closing her career with 5,942 assists.  A four-time All-PSAC pick and a two-time AVCA all-region selection, Fessette averaged 12.14 assists per game.  She was third on the team in blocks (97) and service aces (53), and is fourth with 335 digs.  The senior also earned an All-Atlantic Region Tournament team selection this season.

               Kara Warnke, a sophomore middle hitter for the Lady Eagles, makes her first appearance on the Daktronics regional team earning Second Team honors.  A two-time All-PSAC hitter, Warnke also garnered AVCA All-Atlantic Region accolades this season.  She led the 2001 Lady Eagles with a .293 hitting percentage (373 kills) and a team-best 149 blocks.  The sophomore middle has also contributed 349 digs and 47 service aces.      
            The Lady Eagle volleyball team under the guidance of 11th year Head Coach Tom Justice finished 28-13 overall and captured the regular season PSAC Western Division title and the NCAA Division II Atlantic Region championship, advancing to the Elite Eight.
