LHU Field Hockey Players Named As ECAC All-Stars
Spease Earns Player of the Year Status

   
  (Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania's Shannon Spease (Liverpool, Pa./Greenwood) has been named the 2001 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II Field Hockey Player of the Year. Spease along with teammate Jen DeNault (Hamburg/Hamburg) were selected to the ECAC Division II Field Hockey All-Star team.
         Shannon Spease, a senior forward for the Lady Eagles, was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Player of the Year, earned First Team All-PSAC honors and was named the 2001 PSAC Championship MVP.  A 2001 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II First-Team All-American, Spease netted 25 goals and added 12 assists to lead the team in scoring with 62 total points. With 53 career goals, Spease finished her career sixth on Lock Haven's all-time scoring chart.
        Sophomore back Jen DeNault earns ECAC All-Star team status after garnering First Team All-America honors and a First Team All-PSAC selection in the 2001 season. DeNault helped lead an LHU defense that allowed only seven goals and limited opponents to an average of just 4.4 shots per game over the course of the season.
        The Lady Eagle field hockey team finished with an overall record of 20-2 and was the PSAC regular season champion and PSAC post-season tournament champion.
