	December 12, 2001 LHU's Merrill Earns ECAC Field Athlete of the Week

	(Lock Haven, Pa.) - Jacob Merrill (Montrose/Montrose), a sophomore for the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania men’s track and field team, was selected as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Division II Men’s Field Athlete of the Week for all events ending on Dec. 9. Merrill was the runner-up in the triple jump at the Blue and Orange Open at Bucknell University this past Saturday, leaping a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship qualifying distance of 44’11 ½”. The sophomore also finished third in the 400 meter run, crossing the line in 52.13, also a PSAC Indoor Championship qualifying mark. Merrill closed out the meet with a sixth-place finish in the long jump, going 20’ 3-3/4”. The LHU track and field teams will return to action on Saturday, January 26th, at Bucknell University’s Bison Heptagonal. Action begins with the field events at 11 a.m., and the track events at 12:30 p.m.
