Haven University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer players Brooke Rangi (Kawerau,
New Zealand/Kawerau College) and Naomi Clarke (Cambridge, New
Zealand/St. Peter’s School) were both selected as members of the National
Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas Division II All-America
soccer team.
The NSCAA/adidas All-America teams are determined through voting by
member coaches. The teams will be honored at the NSCAA/adidas All-America
Luncheon to be held Saturday, January 18, as part of the 2003 NSCAA Convention
in Kansas City, Mo.
Rangi earned her first All-America accolade, nabbing a spot as a Second
Team All-American. A First Team All-Northeast Region and All-Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference (PSAC) selection, the sophomore forward also brought home
PSAC Athlete of the Year honors. This
season Rangi helped lead the Lady Eagles to a 16-3-1 ledger with 36 points off
of 12 goals and a conference-best 12 assists.
She posted five game-winning goals, and has climbed to sixth-place on
Lock Haven’s all-time goals (22) list and seventh on both assists (18) and
points (62) charts.
Junior midfielder Naomi Clarke is now a three-time All-American, earning
a Third Team selection. Clarke is
a three-time First Team All-Northeast Region and All-PSAC player. She paced
Lock Haven with 13 goals and along with eight assists totaled 34 points. Highlights from the 2002 season included four game-winning
goals and a career-best, four-goal performance against Concordia College. After
three seasons, Clarke is tied for second on the career goals list (34) and
third on the all-time points (87) chart.
The Lady Eagle soccer team went 16-3-1 during the 2002 season, winning
the regular season PSAC crown with a perfect 10-0-0 ledger.
Lock Haven finished as a semifinalist in the conference tournament and
was a Northeast Region finalist in the NCAA Division II tournament.
