LHU To Send Talented Contingent To PSAC Swimming Championship
Seven Lady Eagles To Test the Waters at Conference Meet

   
  (Lock Haven, Pa.) -  The Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team will send seven swimmers to the 2002 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, being held from February 21-23 at Clarion University.
            Four Lady Eagles earned spots in the individual events, Wendi Cerra (Berwick/Berwick), Erin March (Wellsville/Dover), Kristen Maksinchuk (Pittsburgh/Plum), and Diana Rhoades (Waldorf, Md./Thomas Stone).  Cerra, a sophomore, will compete in the 50 and 100 Yard Freestyle along with the 100 Yard Butterfly, while March, a senior Lady Eagle, will swim in the 50, 100, and 200 Yard Freestyle races.  Maksinchuk, a junior, will attempt to place in the 100 and 200 Yard Backstroke in addition to the 50 Yard Freestyle event.  Rhoades, a freshman, will compete in the 100 and 200 Yard Freestyle races along with the 200 Yard Individual Medley. 

              Three other Lady Eagles will make the trip to Clarion to aid in the relay events.  Tracy Latchaw (N. Brunswick, N.J./N. Brunswick Township), Sara McClure (North East/Northeast), and Cindy Smoker (Montoursville/Montoursville) will all play a role in the LHU relay swims.  Smoker will help out in the 200, 400, and 800 Yard Freestyle Relays, while McClure is scheduled to swim with the 200 and 400 Medley Relay teams along with the 200 and 400 Yard Freestyle Relay units.  Latchaw will swim the anchor leg of the 800 Yard Freestyle Relay.  The Lady Eagle’s 200 freestyle relay team currently owns the eighth-fastest time in the conference (1:46.29) and the 3:53.50 recorded by the LHU 400 freestyle relay team is also eighth among teams in the PSAC. 
            The 2002 edition of the conference championships run from February 21-23 on the campus of Clarion University.
