(Lock Haven, Pa.) - The
National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) has released its NCAA Division II
preseason poll, placing the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania softball team
in a three-way tie for the 25th spot. The poll is based on last season’s records.
The 2002 Lady Eagles closed last season with a national ranking of 23rd
after gathering an overall record of 37-15 and a Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference (PSAC) record of 16-4. The team placed third in the PSAC Tournament,
and garnered the runner-up position in the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Softball
Championship. This season, the
Lady Eagles return 13 letterwinners with eight starters including six All-PSAC
players and one All-American.
The Lock Haven softball team is led by fourth-year head coach Kelley
Green, the 2002 Speedline/NFCA Division II Mid-Atlantic Region and PSAC
West Coach of the Year.
