LHU Track and Field's Webster, Ritz Earn PSAC Athlete of the Week Honors

   
  (Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Joe Webster (Folcroft/Monsignor Bonner) and Sandy Ritz (West Hazleton/ Hazleton), both of the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania track and field teams, were selected as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference’s (PSAC) Men’s Track Athlete of the Week and Women’s Field Athlete of the Week, respectively, for events ending January 22.
            Joe Webster, a junior on the Bald Eagle track and field team, was the only non-Division I winner at Saturday’s Bucknell Octagonal, winning the 400-Meter Dash in 50.73.  His time currently ranks him second among all conference sprinters in the event.  Webster took fifth in the 200-Meter Dash (23.05) with a time that ranks his third in the PSAC, and also qualified for the conference championships in the 55-Meter Dash with a finish time of 6.77.

              Sandy Ritz highlighted the Lady Eagles’ performance at the Bucknell Octagonal, also asserting herself as the only non-Division I athlete to win an event on the women’s side.  Ritz won the triple jump by over a foot with a leap of 36’ 7-3/4”, and now leads the PSAC standings by over two feet.  The LHU junior also claimed a fourth-place finish in the long jump with a leap of 17’ 0-3/4”, and ran conference championship qualifying times in both the 55-Meter (7.58) and 200-Meter Dash (27.16).  Additionally, Ritz was a member of Lock Haven’s 4x400 Meter Relay which placed sixth (4:12.58).
            The Bald Eagle and Lady Eagle Track and Field teams will travel back to Bucknell University on Saturday, Jan. 26, for the Bucknell Open starting at 9:30 a.m.
