Haven Soccer's Battisson Earns PSAC Fall Top Ten Award

(Lock Haven, Pa.) - Rob Battisson (Leicester, England/High Wyland), a junior men’s soccer player for Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania, was recognized as a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Fall Top Ten award winner, as released today by the conference office.

The PSAC Top Ten awards recognize five male and five female student-athletes from the PSAC who distinguish themselves in the classroom, as well as in the arena of competition.  The conference designates Top Ten Award winners after each of the competitive sports seasons, fall, winter and spring.
Battisson is a junior member of the Bald Eagle soccer team, serving as a two-year starter at center midfield.  An English major with a concentration in literature, he has established a 3.99 grade point average over his two and a half years at Lock Haven.  A two-time first-team All-PSAC player, Battisson helped Lock Haven to a 12-5-1 overall record this season scoring one goal and three assists.  This season he was named to the Verizon/CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team, and has been a PSAC Scholar-Athlete the past two years.  This is his first PSAC Top Ten honor.

To be a candidate for the Top Ten Awards, a student-athlete must have achieved a minimum of a 3.25 cumulative grade point average and be a starter or key reserve with legitimate athletic credentials.  Only student-athletes from the Fall sports season are eligible for the Fall Top Ten Awards.  Those sports include cross country, field hockey, football, men’s and women’s soccer, and volleyball.
The Top Ten Awards provide the PSAC an extra tier in the recognition of the top student-athletes on all PSAC squads with 3.25 cumulative GPA's or better.  Additionally, the Top Ten award winners are added to the ballot for the top Male and Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year awards named by the PSAC following the conclusion of the academic year.
Other 2001 Fall Top Ten award winners include: Lisa Bray (Sr., Field Hockey, Mansfield), Alex Daecher (Sr., Football, Kutztown), Laura Hall (Jr., Volleyball, Indiana), Scott McDavid (Sr., Soccer, California), Kamar Samuels (So., Soccer, E. Stroudsburg), Megan Seefeldt (Sr., Cross Country, Kutztown), Mark Stallings (Jr., Cross Country, Millersville), Jen Yoder (Jr., Soccer, Millersville), and Ying Xu (Sr., Volleyball, California).
