(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Brooke Rangi (Kawerau, New Zealand/Kawerau College), a freshman on the Lock Haven University women’s track and field team, added an Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Field Athlete of the Week honor to her list of accomplishments as recently released by the conference office.  Rangi was also selected as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Women’s Field Athlete of the Week for events ending Jan. 28.
Rangi won the pentathlon at the Bison Open hosted by Bucknell University this past Saturday, compiling an overall mark of 3,438 points.  Her mark was 70 points higher than the second-place finisher and also broke the existing Lock Haven record set five years prior by former All-American Amy Parkes by a total of 152 points.  Rangi won three of five events, and qualified for the PSAC Indoor Championships in four of the five.  She won the long jump (16’ 10-3/4”) and shot put (36’ 1-1/4”) and her winning high jump of 5’5” currently leads the conference.
The Lock Haven track and field teams are next at the DeSchriver Invitational hosted by East Stroudsburg University this Saturday, Feb. 2.
