All-Region Team

Haven University of Pennsylvania’s Rob Carey (North Braddock/Woodland
Hills) was selected to the First Team All-Northeast Region Defense and
Special Teams list by the D2Football.com staff, while John Scullin (Boiling
Springs/Boiling Springs) was named to the D2Football.com All-Northeast
Region Freshman Team as a defensive back.
Carey earned D2Football.com and the Football Gazette All-America honors as a
defensive back and a return specialist, and was a First Team All-Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference (PSAC) at both positions. He was also selected as an
Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) All-Star return specialist.
Carey was the second-leading punt returner in the conference and 11th
in the nation, averaging 15.8 yards per return while also returning two punts
all the way for touchdowns. He
finished sixth in the PSAC with a 22.6-yard kick return average. Defensively,
Carey was third on the squad with 73 total tackles.
He led LHU with 10 pass break-ups, had three interceptions, and tallied
four tackles for loss (-14 yds). Carey set a new school record with a 99-yard
fumble recovery and return for score in the Bald Eagles’ 26-13 win over
Shippensburg University.
Red-shirt freshman Scullin earned first-team defense honors on the
All-Northeast Freshman Team as a defensive back. Scullin was sixth on the squad
with 56 total tackles and shared the team lead with four interceptions. He
notched a season high of 11 stops along with two interceptions in the Bald
Eagles’ win over Shippensburg University.
The 2002
Bald Eagle football team went 4-7 overall and 1-5 in the PSAC West.
