LHU Student-Athletes Earn NCAA Degree Completion

Haven, Pa.) - Two
Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania student-athletes, Tara Trabosh
(Pottsville/Pottsville Area) and Val George (New Oxford/New Oxford),
were chosen to receive NCAA Division II Degree Completion Awards.
The NCAA Degree Completion Award assists student-athletes who have
exhausted their eligibility but have not yet graduated in finishing their
academic requirements necessary for a baccalaureate degree.
Requirements for the award include student-athletes who have received
athletics-related financial aid, are within 30 semester hours of completing an
undergraduate degree, and have a 2.00 cumulative grade point average.

Lock Haven softball player Tara Trabosh, a Health and Physical
Education major, wrapped up four seasons as the Lady Eagles’ starting first
baseman. A four-year Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC)
Scholar-Athlete, Trabosh closed out her softball career third in the conference
all-time records in put-outs (1,177) and fourth with a .987 fielding
percentage. She earned All-PSAC
West First Team honors in her junior and senior seasons and was a member of the
record-breaking 2002 Lady Eagle squad. Just
this past season, LHU softball set eight single-season records including wins
(37) and advanced to the PSAC tournament and the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic
Regional Championship game.
Val George, a field hockey and track and field student-athlete,
is a Sociology major with a minor in Criminal Justice at Lock Haven University.
George wrapped up a four-year stint on the Lady Eagle field hockey team
as the eighth-leading scorer in LHU history with 37 goals.
She was a member of the 2000 NCAA Division II Field Hockey National
Championship team and also of three PSAC Championship teams.
In 2001, George earned individual honors as an All-PSAC forward and was
selected to play in the NFHCA North/South Senior All-Star game. As a member of
the Lock Haven track and field team, George ran middle-distance events along
with the 4x400 meter relay. She
was a two-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete.
