Haven, Pa.) - The
Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania women’s soccer program under the
direction of second-year head coach Shannon Champ has announced six
student-athletes who will make up its 2003 recruiting class.
The
following is the list of LHU’s incoming players:
Elizabeth
Beattie (Fr., D, Madison, Ohio/Madison)
Beattie was a First Team All-PAC player along with
a Third Team All-Greater Cleveland selection. She received Honorable Mention
all-star status from the News-Herald.
Holly
Homsher (Fr., F, Millersville, Pa./Penn Manor)
Homsher
is an all-state player and a four-time Lancaster-Lebanon League All-Star while
playing for Penn Manor High School. The Penn Manor Outstanding Senior Female
Athlete in 2003, Homsher was team captain as a senior and earned the Coaches
Award in 2000. As a member of the Comets’ soccer squad she won a state
title, three section championships, two league championships, and one district
crown. Homsher also played in the
Eastern Pennsylvania Olympic Development Program for six years
Caitlin
Martz (Fr., MF, Plum, Pa./Plum)
Martz
was a four-year starter for Plum Senior High School, earning WPIAL AAA Section
3 First Team honors in 2002 and 2001. She
was a two-time Valley News Dispatch First Team All-Star and a member of
the Pittsburgh Tribune Review’s 2002 Elite Eleven.
Martz captained both her high school team and the Pittsburgh Football
Club team. She is a four-year scholar athlete at Plum, earning membership in
the National Honors Society and the French Club. Martz also lettered in
softball while in high school.
Jennifer
Meassick (Fr., MF/F, Endwell, N.Y./Maine-Endwell)
Meassick
was a four-year STAC All-Division All-Star while playing at Maine-Endwell High
School and also earned the Coach’s Award in 2000 and 1999.
In addition to soccer, she was a member of two Divisional Championship
track and field teams (1999, 2001) and the 2000 Class B Championship track
team. A two-time Silver and a
two-time Bronze Award winner for Excellence in Scholarship, Meassick also
merited Service Awards for serving on the student council. She earned a Senate
Certificate of Merit for aiding with the ADSIP Program.
Rachel
Springer (Fr., D, Ligonier, Pa./Ligonier Valley)
Springer merited all-conference honors in both
junior and senior seasons as a defender for Ligonier Valley High School. She is
a National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society and German Honor Society
member.
Martina
Hall (Fr., MF, Klagenfurt, Austria/Ingeborg Bachmann)
Hall
was a member of two Carinthian Championship teams and the 2002-03 Austrian 2
Division championship squad. She
was also the recipient of a Cambridge Certificate of Advanced English.
The
2002 Lady Eagle women’s soccer team finished 16-3-1, earning its first
undefeated, regular season record (11-0-0) in the Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference (PSAC). Lock Haven was
a PSAC tournament semifinalist and advanced to its fourth-straight NCAA
tournament before bowing out in the NCAA Division II Northeast Regional finals.
