(Lock Haven, Pa.) – Stacie
Miller (Lock Haven/Lock Haven) was selected to the Verizon
Academic All-America College Division Softball Second Team,
as voted on by the members of the College Sports Information
Directors of America (CoSIDA).
A first team, second team, and third team are selected,
with each softball all-academic team consisting of 11
student-athletes (two pitchers, a catcher, four infielders,
three outfielders, and a designated player).
To be nominated for Academic All-America honors, the
student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at
least a 3.20 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) for
her career. No
athlete is eligible until she has reached sophomore athletic and
academic standing at her current institution.
Miller earned Second Team Academic
All-America honors, sporting impressive academic and athletic
credentials. As a student, the senior catcher for the Lady Eagle
softball team maintained a 3.82 grade point average in Health
and Physical Education. She
earned LHU’s Health and Physical Education Sophomore and
Junior of the Year awards, and is currently a three-time
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Scholar-Athlete.
Miller was also selected as a PSAC Top Ten Award winner
this spring.
The Lady Eagle has the athletic
accolades to match her notable academic skill, earning PSAC West
Player of the Year honors this season in addition to ECAC South
Region First Team All-Star recognition.
She also merited her fourth-straight All-PSAC selection
this season. Miller’s
2001 totals for home runs (10) and
slugging percentage (.818) marked new LHU season records, and
her 36 RBIs tied the existing Lock Haven record.
She also holds Lock Haven all-time records in doubles
(41) and RBIs (75).
Miller is one of just two student-athletes from the PSAC
to earn national recognition as a Softball Academic
All-American, and is the only Health and Physical Education
major among those selected.
