LHU Wrestling Recruiting Class Receives Honorable Mention Ranking

(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  This year’s recruiting class of Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania head wrestling coach Rocky Bonomo and staff has been ranked as receiving Honorable Mention in the final 2003 InterMat Top Recruiting Classes list.
The InterMat Top-25 Rankings are based on a team’s ability to sign wrestlers that meet the following criteria – meeting team needs, impact wrestlers, overall quality and quantity. The University of Minnesota held down the top spot on the InterMat rankings, bringing in three top-ranked grapplers along with third, fourth, fifth and seventh-ranked wrestlers and a top transfer.  Oklahoma State University, Ohio State University, University of Michigan and the University of Oklahoma round out the top five recruiting classes.
Lock Haven received Honorable Mention recognition, bringing in fifth and seventh-ranked wrestlers along with two honorable mention grapplers in this year’s group of incoming student-athletes.  The Bald Eagles add strength to their lower weights with fifth-ranked Obenson Blanc from Lely (Fla.) High School, a state champion and national high school Senior Open Champion at 112 pounds.  Seventh-ranked Ricky Frondorf from North Hunterdon (N.J.) High School will complement the Bald Eagles’ middle-weight unit, placing as a two-time state champion and a high school All-American at 152 pounds.  Two honorable mention wrestlers add depth and strength to a sparse group of Haven heavyweights, Josh Kirsch of Mount Union High School and Joel Yoder of Bald Eagle Area High School.
The 2002-03 Bald Eagles went 12-11 in dual meets and placed 35th overall at the NCAA Division I National Championships.
