LHU Football Announces 2003 Recruiting Class

(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  The Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania football office has announced a list of 22 high school seniors who have signed Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) letters of intent to continue their academic and athletic careers as Bald Eagles.
“As in the past, the staff has looked to bring in players to fill certain gaps,” said Mark Luther, the 2002 PSAC Western Division Coach of the Year and fourth year, Bald Eagle head coach.
“This year we’ve concentrated on bringing in players for the offensive line – we have five in this group.  We also brought in talent at both quarterback and receiver positions that will offer even more competition to our returning players there. Defensively we return almost the entire unit intact, but looking down the road we need to make sure we can continue to support the quality and depth we have had in the past.”
“It’s no different than in years past when we have looked to increase our size and athletic ability,” continued Luther. “At the same time, we are bringing in a group of quality student-athletes, which will help us in the long run.”
Breaking down the recruiting class, the Bald Eagles gain 14 offensive players including six linemen, four receivers and three quarterbacks, and seven defensive players including four defensive backs and two linemen. One kicker will also join the roster.
The 2003 Lock Haven football team opens up the season on the road at Towson University on September 6 at 7 p.m.
