(Lock Haven, Pa.) - The
Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania women’s lacrosse team was honored as a
2003 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division II
Academic Squad, while three members of the Lady Eagle team earned individual
recognition as members of the Division II Academic Honor Roll.
Sara Daley (Phoenixville/Spring-Ford), Jessica Pease (New
Milford/Blue Ridge) and Amanda Vetterlein (Springfield, Va./West
Springfield) were the three lacrosse student-athletes to earn the
coaches’ association honor roll status.
The women’s lacrosse team received Academic
Squad honors for being one of only eight squads in all of Division II to
compile a team grade point average of 3.00 or greater.
The trio of Lady Eagles earning Academic Honor Roll status, awarded to
those players of junior or senior class standing who carry a cumulative grade
point average of 3.50 or higher, included senior Amanda Vetterlein, a Health
and Physical Education major, along with juniors Sara Daley and Jessica Pease,
both Elementary Education majors.
Vetterlein
was a 2003 Verizon Academic All-District selection, is a three-time
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athlete and is an Honors
program student at the University. She
was a second-team All-PSAC defender following this past season, helping lead
the Lady Eagles to a third-place standing among PSAC schools in goals
allowed.
Daley, a
two-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete, is a three-year member of the Lady Eagle squad
who scored six goals and eight assists while starting as an attacker this
season. Pease was also a significant role player this season, playing
in 13 games and posting one goal. Like
Daley, she is a two-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete.
The 2003 Lock
Haven women’s lacrosse team went 8-8 overall and finished fourth in the PSAC
at 3-3 in the conference standings.
