LHU's Elliston Named NCAA Division II Region Coach of the Year
Haven Track and Field Coach Receives Both Men's and Women's Award

(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania Indoor Track and Field Coach Mark Elliston was recently named the NCAA Division II East Region Men’s and Women’s Coach of the Year.  Finalists were honored at a banquet in conjunction with the NCAA Division II National Track and Field Championships held in Boston, Mass., on March 7th.  With his regional wins, Elliston was one of eight finalists for the NCAA Division II Coach of the Year for both the men and women.
Both the men’s and women’s squads at LHU garnered the first-ever Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) indoor track and field titles in February.  The men’s team, which won by 19 points, finished the season ranked 16th in the Division II Track and Field National Dual Meet Rankings.  Bald Eagles broke five school records over the course of the indoor season, and qualified two athletes provisionally for the NCAA Championships.

Elliston’s women’s team won the PSAC title by a 44-point margin, and finished the season ranked 11th in the National Dual Meet rankings.  Eighteen school records fell for the Lady Eagles this season, with six national qualifying performances turned in.
The women’s team had five individual conference champions while the men’s team had three individual and two relay titles.
This is Elliston’s first recognition for regional Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year honors.  He has twice been honored as a regional Outdoor Coach of the Year -- in 1999 for the men’s team and in 2000 for the women’s team.
