Lady Eagle Softball's Next Stop is NCAA Regional Tournament

   
  (Lock Haven, Pa.) - The Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania softball team (35-13) has earned a berth into the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Regional softball championship Thursday, May 9th through Sunday, May 12th.  Bloomsburg University, the region’s top seed, will host the tournament with all games being played at Jan Hutchinson Field on the Bloomsburg upper campus. Ticket prices are $4 for adults and $2 for students and senior citizens.   
            The Lady Eagles will be the third seed in the tournament.  Bloomsburg holds down the top seed, while California (Pa.) University is the second seed.  Filling the three additional slots are Shippensburg University as the fourth seed, Indiana (Pa.) University as the fifth seed, while Elizabeth City State is the sixth seed.   Bloomsburg earned an automatic bid by winning the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) title, while Elizabeth City State was the other automatic qualifier by way of winning the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association title. 
            This is the second appearance in the regional tournament for the LHU softball team, last competing in 1988.  That year, the Lock Haven team won the regional title and advanced all the way to the championship game before finishing as the national runner-up.
            The winner of the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Region championship advances to the NCAA Division II Championship round from May 16-20 in Salem, Va., for the chance to play for a national crown.
