Three Lady Eagles Etch Piece of History By Becoming Three-Sport PSAC Champions

(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  In Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania athletic history, their has never been a student-athlete who was a member of three Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) championship teams in one year. This year three student-athletes have accomplished this feat -- Jocelyn Held (Slatington, Pa./Northwestern Lehigh), Fonati Ward (Hershey, Pa./Milton Hershey), and Brooke Rangi (Kawerau, New Zealand/Kawerau College).  Each was a member of three PSAC championship teams during the 2001-2002 school year.
Held and Ward both competed on the 2001 PSAC championship field hockey team and were members of both championship indoor and outdoor track and field squads. Held also went on to capture the individual crown in the pole vault during the outdoor track and field championships, while Ward was a member of the first-place distance medley relay during the indoor season and the 4x400 championship relay in outdoor track season.

Rangi was a starter for the 2001 PSAC championship women's soccer team and competed on both indoor and outdoor championship track and field teams. In women's soccer, she was one of the top offensive players on the team, scoring 10 goals and six assists for 26 points as a true-freshman. In track and field, Rangi is a four-time PSAC individual champion, winning the high jump and 55 high hurdles during the indoor season and the high jump and heptathlon in the outdoor season.  Rangi is also an NCAA Division II provisional qualifier in the heptathlon.
