LHU Baseball's Varga Earns All-Region Accolades

Haven, Pa.) - Ryan
Varga (Edgewater Park, N.J./Burlington City),
a pitcher on the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania baseball team, scored
NCAA Division II North Atlantic Second Team All-Region honors, as recently
released.
This is the first all-region accolade for Varga, a senior right-handed pitcher
for the Bald Eagles. In 2002, Varga set the school record for wins in a season
(10) and innings pitched (90.1), finishing at 10-4 overall with a 3.19 earned
run average. The Bald Eagle posted
six complete games with one solo shutout effort along with three combined
shutouts. He was Lock Haven’s
strikeout leader (71) in a total of 15 mound appearances. Varga also earned second team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic
Conference (PSAC) honors this season.
The 2002 Lock Haven baseball team finished at
25-20-1 overall and 14-5-1 in the PSAC Western Division.
Advancing to the program’s sixth PSAC Tournament as the West’s
second seed, the Bald Eagles wrapped up action as the conference runners-up.
