LHU Baseball's Varga Earns All-Region Accolades

(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Ryan Varga (Edgewater Park, N.J./Burlington City), a pitcher on the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania baseball team, scored NCAA Division II North Atlantic Second Team All-Region honors, as recently released.
This is the first all-region accolade for Varga, a senior right-handed pitcher for the Bald Eagles.  In 2002, Varga set the school record for wins in a season (10) and innings pitched (90.1), finishing at 10-4 overall with a 3.19 earned run average.  The Bald Eagle posted six complete games with one solo shutout effort along with three combined shutouts.  He was Lock Haven’s strikeout leader (71) in a total of 15 mound appearances.  Varga also earned second team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) honors this season.
The 2002 Lock Haven baseball team finished at 25-20-1 overall and 14-5-1 in the PSAC Western Division.  Advancing to the program’s sixth PSAC Tournament as the West’s second seed, the Bald Eagles wrapped up action as the conference runners-up.
