Haven, Pa.) - Anesu Mushonga (Harare, Zimbabwe/Prince
Edward) and Nick Slotterback (Lewisburg/Lewisburg), both athletes on
the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania men’s track and field team, earned
Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Track Athlete and Field Athlete
of the Week honors.
Mushonga, the PSAC Men’s Track Athlete of the
Week and a junior at Lock Haven, set a new school and site record in the 200
meters at the LHU Qualifier by finishing in 21.62.
It is the best time among conference competitors this season.
Mushonga also took top spots as a member of the 4x100 (41.36) and 4x400
(3:16.98) relays, and was second in the 100-meter dash (11.07).
Slotterback earned PSAC Men’s Field Athlete of
the Week honors after posting a season best in the javelin with a throw of
209’0” at the LHU Qualifier. His
winning mark met NCAA provisional standards and ranks him second best in the
conference and sixth in Division II.
The men’s and women’s track and field teams will both compete in the
PSAC Outdoor Championships this week. Lock
Haven University will serve as host of the conference championships from May
8-10 at Hubert Jack Stadium.
