LHU Wrestling Announces 2003 Recruiting Class

(Lock Haven, Pa.) - The Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania wrestling program has announced 16 student-athletes who will make up its 2003 recruiting class. Among the group are four state champions with a combined total of five state titles. Additionally, two wrestlers, Obenson Blanc of Naples, Fla., and Josh Kirsch of Shirleysburg, Pa., are ranked nationally. Blanc was ranked sixth at 112 pounds by Amateur Wrestling News and was a Florida state and High School Senior Nationals Open champion. Kirsch received honorable mention recognition in the final InterMat poll at 215 pounds. Kirsch was named the Outstanding Wrestler at the 2003 Pennsylvania state wrestling championship after capturing the 215-pound title. A total of 83 of his 123 career wins were by fall.
            The 2003-04 Bald Eagle wrestling team will be led by second-year head coach Rocky Bonomo. Last year the LHU grapplers posted a 12-11 dual meet record. The Bald Eagles were runners-up at the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference championship and fourth at the Eastern Wrestling League championship. Lock Haven finished 35^th overall at the NCAA Division I National Championships as 141-pounder Mike Maney earned his second All-America honor.
