The Haven's Vetterlein Named To Academic All-District Team

Haven University of Pennsylvania women’s lacrosse player Amanda Vetterlein
(Springfield, Va./West Springfield) was named to the Verizon Academic
All-District College Division Women’s At-Large Team as recently released by
the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
It is the first such academic honor for Vetterlein, who has maintained a
3.993 grade point average in Health and Physical Education at Lock Haven.
A senior, Vetterlein is a four-year defender for the Lady Eagles who
became the first defensive player from the Haven to be named All-Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference (PSAC) since 1998 after earning Second Team Defense
honors this season. She played a large role in helping rank the LHU defense
third in the PSAC by limiting opponent offenses to 10.25 goals per game. She
registered 38 ground balls, 25 interceptions and five draw controls in addition
to four assists over the season. Vetterlein is also a three-year PSAC
Scholar-Athlete and an Honors Program student at the University.
The Lock Haven University lacrosse team finished 8-8 overall and was 3-3
in the PSAC.
The
District II College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and
universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia,
and the District of Columbia. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at
least a sophomore with a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or
significant reserve. Student-athletes selected to the First Team All-District
are eligible for Academic All-America honors.
The At-Large award honors student-athletes from 24 varsity level sport
including men’s and women’s gymnastics, skiing, fencing, ice hockey,
swimming, water polo, lacrosse, tennis, golf and rifle, women’s crew,
women’s field hockey, men’s volleyball and men’s wrestling.
