LHU's Farrow Nabs First Team Academic All-District Accolade

(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania four-time track and field All-American Jennifer Farrow (Canton/Athens) can add one more honor to her list, that of Verizon Academic All-District First Team Track & Field/Cross Country College Division squad as recently released by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).  The ten student-athletes selected to the First Team All-District are eligible for Academic All-America honors.
It is the first Academic All-District selection for Farrow, who became Lock Haven’s first three-time outdoor All-American after placing fourth in the 400 meters (54.52) at the NCAA Division II National Championship. She also recently earned honors as the NCAA Division II East Region Athlete of the Year.  At the 2003 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Championships, Farrow captured three titles, winning the 400 meters (55.41), the 200 meters (25.09) and anchoring the first-place 4x100 meter relay (47.81).  Over her career, she has garnered All-America on four occasions with three outdoor and one indoor accolade, and is also one of eight females in the PSAC to win four straight conference titles after capturing gold in the 400 meters all four seasons.

Other academic honors include a 2002 PSAC Spring Top Ten award as well as National Track Coaches Association All-Academic honors last season.  A graduate student academically, Farrow earned her bachelor’s degree in Recreation/Fitness Management from Lock Haven University before enrolling in the University’s Masters in Liberal Arts program with a 3.85 grade point average.
The District II College Division consists of all non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 cumulative grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve.
The members of the First Team selections now move onto the national ballot for 2003 Verizon Academic All-America honors, which will be announced on June 19th.  This is the second year of the Track & Field/Cross Country program.
