(Lock
Haven, Pa.) - Three
members of the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania men’s soccer team were
selected for All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) honors.
Freshman Andrew Battersby (Rotherham, England/Rotherham) earned
additional accolades as the PSAC Rookie of the Year.
Battersby, Rob Battisson (Leicester, England/High Wyland), and Morten
Brorby (Jevnaker, Norway/Jevnaker) were all selected to the First Team All-PSAC
list.
A freshman forward, Andrew Battersby earned Rookie of the Year and First
Team honors after leading The Haven in scoring with 14 goals and three assists
for 31 points. He is fourth in the
PSAC in scoring (1.94/gm), and third in goals (.88/gm).
Battersby is the only freshman from the conference to earn a spot on the
First Team. It is the first time
since the 1995 season that an LHU player has merited a PSAC Rookie of the Year
award.
Junior midfielder
Rob Battisson earns his second straight First Team All-PSAC recognition.
Controlling play from his center midfield position, Battisson also added
a goal and three assists to the Haven offense.
Morten Brorby, a
senior defender, makes his fourth appearance on the all-conference charts,
having earned Second Team honors in 1998 and 1999 before securing a First Team
award last season. An integral
member of the Bald Eagle defense, Brorby helped hold opponents to only 20 total
goals this season, a 1.11 per game average, and also aided in nine shutout
victories. He added four goals for
eight points this season.
The Lock Haven men’s
soccer team wrapped up the 2010 season with a 12-5-1 overall mark and a 3-4-1
record in the PSAC, narrowly missing the conference playoffs.
