LHU Women's Soccer NCAA Tournament Bound
Lady Eagles Seated First in Northeast

Haven, Pa.) - The
2002 National Collegiate Athletic
Association (NCAA) Division II Women’s Soccer National Championship brackets
were released Sunday evening, listing the Lady Eagle (16-2-1) squad as the top
seed in the Northeast Region. The
women’s soccer tournament field consists of 24 teams, with three teams from
each of the eight regions receiving playoff berths.
Also earning bids in the Northeast Region were second-seeded Adelphi
University (15-1-2) and third-seeded Bloomsburg University (12-5-3).
By virtue of its top seed, Lock Haven earns a bye in the first round. Bloomsburg will travel to Adelphi on Wednesday, November 13,
for a 1:30 p.m. match-up. The
Lady Eagles will host the winner on either Saturday or Sunday, November 16 or
17.
The bid marks the fourth-straight trip to the NCAA playoffs for Lock
Haven. The Haven owns two regional
titles with the most recent coming last season and the other in 1999.
Last season, Lock Haven defeated Slippery Rock University, 3-2, in
overtime to capture the regional crown.
During the 2002 regular season, the Lady Eagles earned wins over both
Adelphi (2-0) and Bloomsburg (1-0, ot).
The NCAA Quarterfinals will take place on November 23 or 24 with the
finals scheduled for December 6 and 8 at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex in
Virginia Beach, Va.
