Three LHU Field Hockey Players Selected For Senior All-Star Game

  (Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania field hockey’s Erika Grap (Van Etten, N.Y., Spencer-Van Etten), Amy Hale (Hanover/Southwestern) and Carrie Witherel (Woodbridge, Va./Woodbridge Senior) were selected to participate in this year’s National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division II North/South Senior All Star-Game. The game will be held at the University of Louisville campus on Saturday, November 23 at 5:30 p.m.
           Two-time All-American senior forward Erika Grap has been a four-year starter for the Lady Eagles.  In addition to All-America honors, she earned three All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) certificates over her Haven career.  Grap received accolades as a member of the NCAA Division II All-Tournament team on two occasions, including this season.  She led the 2002 Lady Eagles in scoring with 15 goals and five assists, and wrapped up as the conference goals per game leader (0.75) and was second in points per game (1.75).  With 49 career goals, Grap winds up seventh on LHU’s all-time scorers list.
            Amy Hale is another four-year veteran for the Lady Eagles, earning First Team All-PSAC honors in her final campaign. Hale notched her most productive season in 2002, scoring seven goals and seven assists.  Hale is a two-time NFHCA Academic All-American, and a two-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete. Over her career, Hale registered 27 goals and 10 assists. 
           Carrie Witherel has spent four years as a midfielder/forward for The Haven.  She earned PSAC Scholar-Athlete and NFHCA Division II Academic All-America honors following each season. Witherel recorded a total of six goals and three assists in her four-year tenure at the Haven. 
          The Lock Haven field hockey team went 18-4 overall this season, finishing as the PSAC Tournament runner-up and as an NCAA Division II Field Hockey National Tournament semifinalist.
