Battisson (Leicester, England/High Wyland) and
Becky Nichols (Wind Gap/Nazareth), members
of Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania men’s and women’s soccer team,
have been selected as a 2002 Verizon Academic All-District team members.
Rob Battisson, a senior
midfielder for the Bald Eagles, earned First Team College Division Verizon
Academic All-District accolades. This is Battisson’s second Academic
All-District award, receiving first-team honors in 2001 as well as a selection
to the Academic All-America team. Battisson is a two-time First Team
All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) player and three-time PSAC
Scholar-Athlete. While carrying a 3.984 grade-point average, Battisson majors
in English with a concentration in Literature.
Fellow senior Becky Nichols collected Second Team College Division Verizon
Academic All-District honors. A three-time All-Region and all-conference
midfielder who garnered All-America honors in 2000, Nichols wraps up her Lady
Eagle career with 19 goals, seventh on the school’s all-time list, and 10
assists. She is a three-time PSAC Scholar-Athlete and has achieved a 3.84
overall grade point average as a Criminal Justice major at Lock Haven.
The District II College Division consists of all
non-NCAA Division I colleges and universities in New Jersey, Pennsylvania,
Maryland, Delaware, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia. To be
nominated, a student-athlete must be at least a sophomore with a 3.2 cumulative
grade-point average and be a starter or significant reserve. Student-athletes
selected to the First Team All-District are eligible for Academic All-America
honors.
