Haven Field Hockey Players Nab All-America Honors

  (Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Four Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania field hockey players received 2002 STX/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division II All-American awards, including three first team recipients. Erika Grap (Van Etten, N.Y./Spencer-Van Etten), Jen DeNault (Hamburg/Hamburg), and Janelle Ebaugh (McSherrystown/Littlestown) all earned First Team All-America honors, while freshman Nikki Sweger (Dauphin/Central Dauphin East) garnered Second Team All-America accolades. 
            Senior forward Erika Grap merits her third All-America honor after leading the team in goals (15) and total points (35). Grap earned first team honors in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and was named to the NCAA All-Tournament team in 2002. She was also chosen as a 2002 NFHCA Division II North/South Senior All-Star. With 49 career goals, Grap finished her career seventh on Lock Haven’s all-time scoring list. 
            It is also the third All-America award for junior back Jen DeNault, who notches her second-consecutive year as a First Team selection. This season, DeNault posted nine goals, 11 assists and tallied 31 total points. Defensively, she helped LHU to 11 shutout victories and a team 1.00 goals against average.  She was a 2002 First Team All-PSAC choice as well as an NCAA All-Tournament team member.  
            Janelle Ebaugh, a junior midfielder, also earned First Team All-America honors. Last year, she was chosen as a Second Team selection. Ebaugh was a first team all-conference pick for the second year in a row after posting 11 goals and nine assists for a total of 31 points.  She was also selected to the NCAA All-Tournament team. 
            Freshman Nikki Sweger receives Second Team All-America honors. Sweger was named the PSAC Rookie of the Year and also garnered a second team All-PSAC selection. The rookie forward netted 10 goals along with eight assists and finished fifth on the team in scoring (28 points). 
            The Lady Eagle field hockey team wrapped up the season with an overall record of 18-5 and was the PSAC tournament runner-up and an NCAA tournament semifinalist.
