Bald Eagles' Metz Named PSAC West Player of the Week
LHU Linebacker Earns Conference Defensive Honors

   
  (Lock Haven, Pa.) -  Junior linebacker Derrik Metz (Roaring Spring/Central) of the Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania football team was selected as the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Western Division’s Defensive Player of the Week for games ending September 28.
       Metz helped lift Lock Haven to a 33-30 win at Mansfield University by posting 10 total tackles, three tackles for loss (-8), one sack, a pass break-up and two interceptions.  He returned his second interception 31 yards to the Mansfield 10-yard line, setting up a key Lock Haven touchdown in the narrow victory.
       On the season, Metz leads Lock Haven and is second on the PSAC defensive leaders chart with 44 tackles (11.0 per game) including 30 solo stops. With three interceptions, he is also among conference leaders in the category. In four games, he has also recorded four tackles for loss, one sack, and two additional pass break-ups.
         The Lock Haven University football team (2-2) will host Cheyney University for its annual Homecoming contest on Saturday, October 5.  Kickoff is slated for 2 p.m. in Hubert Jack Stadium.
