Three LHU Squads Earn National Ranking

(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  The Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania field hockey, men’s soccer and women’s soccer teams have all secured a position among the nation’s top 20 in their respective sport for the week beginning September 10.
The Lady Eagle field hockey team is seated at #2 in the first National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) poll of the season, just one vote shy of a top billing.  The 2000 national runner-up Bentley College is ranked first.  Lock Haven (3-0), the defending national and Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) champion, opens up conference competition this Wednesday, September 12, at Millersville University.
Bald Eagle soccer has earned its highest national ranking in over four years, presently rated #5 in the nation. Also ranked first in the Northeast Region, the men’s soccer team is undefeated at 5-0.  Already a historic season after closing in on the 500 program wins mark with the September 4 win over Felician College, the Bald Eagles have posted shutouts in four of their five wins.  LHU hosts non-conference rival Gannon University on Wednesday evening at Central Mountain High School.
The Lock Haven women’s soccer team has regained its position among the top Division II teams in the country, reappearing at #13 in the latest NSCAA Coaches poll.  The Lady Eagles opened up the season ranked #13 in the nation, but had dropped out of the polls last week following a 6-3 loss to #3 Franklin Pierce College. Now sporting a 3-1 overall record, the women’s soccer team opens up PSAC action on Wednesday, September 12, at Edinboro University.
