LHU Men's Soccer To Host AYSO Night at McGill Stadium
Lock Haven Renews Non-Conference Rivalry With Gannon

(Lock Haven, Pa.) -  The Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania men’s soccer team, ranked fifth in the nation and undefeated at  5-0-0, will host non-conference rival Gannon University (0-3) on Wednesday, September 12, in a special AYSO night at Central Mountain High School’s McGill Stadium.  Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m.
The first 100 AYSO players entering the stadium wearing their AYSO game jerseys will be given a free Lock Haven University Soccer t-shirt, courtesy of Lea Ann S. Plessinger, CPA.  In addition, LHU men’s soccer apparel sponsor ADMIRAL will provide numerous items to be given away throughout the game.  Tickets for the event are $3 for adults and $2 for children.

Wednesday’s game renews a 14-year rivalry between the Bald Eagles and Golden Knights dating from 1984-1997.  The all-time record between the two programs is knotted at 7-7-1.

The 1984 Haven Men's Soccer team defeated Gannon in the NCAA D-II Mid-Atlantic Region championship game, 2-0.
The series record between Lock Haven and Gannon is 7-7-1.

Current LHU Head Coach Rob Eaton (LHU, '88)
is in the bottom row, third from the left.

Adding flavor to the match-up, both current head coaches, LHU’s Rob Eaton and Gannon’s Rob van Rheenen, are graduates of their respective programs.  Eaton played for the Bald Eagles from 1984-87, earning Academic All-American status along with three Mid-Atlantic Region and All-PSAC accolades.  Gannon’s van Rheenen is a two-time All-American for the Golden Knights, playing from 1982-85, and still holds several Gannon records, including the career assist record (50).
Another familiar face will have an interest in the match-up, Lock Haven Assistant Director of Athletics Peter Campbell (Gannon, ’90).  Campbell was four-year starter for the Golden Knights from 1987-90, and is still among the career scoring and goals leaders.
