(11-5) squad, losing 3-0 in the first contest and 1-0 in
the nightcap. The Lady Eagles are now 8-9 on the season.
Three solo home runs by Bloomsburg, one to lead off
each of the first three innings, proved to be the
difference in the first game of the twinbill as LHU lost,
3-0. In their very first at bat of the game, the
Huskies’ Jess Shnyder sent one over the fence for the
1-0 lead. Sara
Roba led off in the second inning and Tina Jennosa in the
third, both recording solo homers to move the home team
into the 3-0 lead. The Lady Eagles were held to just three
hits, including two by Lynn
Spiezio (Trooper/Methacton).
Pitcher Shona
Guevara (
Chino Hills
,
Calif.
/Ruben S. Ayala)
fell to 5-2 overall after throwing all six innings, giving
up six hits with just three strikeouts.
A
single run by the Huskies in the bottom of the fifth frame
was the deciding factor of game two.
Bloomsburg had put runners in scoring position in
the second and third innings, but the Haven held off the
early offensive attack.
The Huskies strung together two straight hits, a
single by Laurel Koster and a game-winning RBI off a
double by Jess Shnyder in the fifth to break the scoreless
tie. The Lady
Eagles’ only hit of the game came in the seventh inning,
a lead-off single by Kelly
Deitrick (Danville/Danville).
Freshman pitcher Stephanie
Kinch (

to fall to 2-3 on the season after giving up five hits
over the six inning span.
