Pennsylvania
softball team (12-11, 4-2 PSAC West) dropped both games of
a doubleheader on the road against California
(Pa.) University (15-7, 5-3 PSAC West), losing 9-1 in game one
before an 8-7 nail-biter loss in game two.
The
Haven took a short-lived, early lead in game one before
losing by a 9-1 final in a shortened, five-inning contest.
The Lady Eagles were the first to strike, posting one run
in the top of the third frame on an RBI single by Heather
Johnson (Williamsport/Williamsport).
The Vulcans answered with three runs in the
bottom of the inning, then fired up a six-run fourth frame
to tuck the game away.
Shona
Guevara (Chino Hills, Calif./Ruben S. Ayala)
took the loss, falling to 7-3 on the season. Ashley
Barber (Rockville, Md./Richard
Montgomery) posted three hits, all singles, to lead
LHU at the plate.
Lock Haven took over a 7-6 lead on a three-run

inning, but the excitement faded as California regained
its lead with two runs in the bottom of the set for the
8-7 victory in game two.
California
had held a 6-1 lead going into the sixth inning. The Lady
Eagles rallied for three runs in the sixth and seventh
frames, but the Vulcans’ early advantage along with the
pair of seventh-inning runs sealed their fate.
Stephanie Kinch (Painesville, Ohio/Riverside) took the
loss, falling to 2-4 on the season.

Hughes three-run homer while Lynn
