LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
Junior
Shona M. Guevara (Chino
Hills, Calif./Humboldt State University) and sophomore
Stephanie Hallowell
(Eagleville, Pa./Methacton) were named the Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Pitcher and Player of the Week, the
conference office announced today (March 21). This is the first weekly
award for both Guevara and Hallowell and the second and third for the
Lock Haven University softball team (13-5).
Guevara pitched nine
strong innings in a 1-0 victory over West Chester University in game one
of a doubleheader. She fought back from a bases-loaded, one out jam in
the bottom of the ninth inning, striking out the final batter to win the
game. She scattered eight hits in the contest, striking out seven.
In two wins against
West Chester, Hallowell went 2-for-7, scoring one run and driving in
two. In game two of the doubleheader she went 2-for-3 from the plate,
including an RBI double that scored two early runs.
Guevara,
Hallowell and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action Tuesday,
March 22 at 2 p.m. as they travel to Kutztown University.
