LOCK HAVEN, Pa.
– Juniors Jeanette
Middlestead (Coatesville, Pa./La Salle University) and sophomore
Danielle Fraser (West
Milford, N.J./West Milford) were named the Pennsylvania State
Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Pitcher and Player of the Week, the
conference office announced today (March 28). This is the first weekly
award for Fraser, the second for Middlestead and the fourth and fifth
for the Lock Haven University softball team (15-5).
Middlestead took a no-hitter to the
last out of the game, giving up a two-out single in the seventh before
finishing with the one-hit shutout. The junior hurler allowed just one
runner to reach third base, and struck out five Golden Bear batters
while narrowly missing her second no-hitter of the young season.
Fraser hit .500 (3-of-6) over the
two-game week, a pair of victories at Kutztown. She also drove in a
team-high five runs and scored two. The junior first baseman’s
bases-clearing double in the top of the ninth would cinch the 7-3
victory in game one. She also had a two-RBI single in the four-run third
inning of game two.
Middlestead, Fraser and the rest of
the Lady Eagles are back in action Thursday, March 31 at 2 p.m. as they
travel to IUP.
