LOCK HAVEN, Pa. –
The National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA)
announced its post-season all-regional teams, and Lock Haven University
was well represented on the Mid-Atlantic Regional first and second
teams. The Lady Eagles placed three starters on each squad.
Junior pitcher
Shona M. Guevara
(Chino Hills, Calif./Humboldt State University)
led the Haven charge on the first team. Guevara posted a 1.27 ERA with
an impressive 18-4 record. She struck out 127 batters this season.
Fellow junior
Courtney Hughes
(Schwenksville, Pa./Souderton) nabbed the
first-team shortstop honors with a team-best .388 batting average.
Hughes also led the team with 50 hits, 15 doubles, 34 runs scored and
tied for the top spot with 35 RBIs. She belted eight homeruns this
season, upping her career total to a LHU career-best 14.
Stephanie Hallowell
(Eagleville, Pa./Methacton) grabbed the final
Lady Eagle first-team spot at third base. The sophomore batted .358
while starting every game for Lock Haven this season. Hallowell was
second on the team with 43 hits and 31 runs scored.
The rest of the Lady Eagle infield
was represented on the Mid-Atlantic Region second team. Junior second
baseman
Heather Johnson
(Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport) earned her
spot batting at a .358 clip. HoJo hit nine doubles, three homeruns and
drove in 26 runs this season.
Danielle Fraser (West
Milford, N.J./West Milford) scooped up the
first baseman nod for the second team. Fraser batted .354 on the year,
with 40 hits and 18 RBIs.
Behind the plate, senior catcher
Janet Paterson
(Frederick, Md./Walkersville) got the accolades. Paterson belted a
team-high nine homeruns while batting .343 this season. She had 12
doubles and knocked in a team-best 35 runs.
Guevara,
Hughes, Hallowell, Johnson, Fraser, Paterson and the rest of the Lady
Eagles are in action today in the NCAA Regionals at Shippensburg
University.
