Lady Eagle Softball Signs Four Student-Athletes

   
 

LOCK HAVEN, Pa.-The Lock Haven University softball team announced the signing of four student-athletes for 2005-06. The Lady Eagles finished the 2004 season with a 27-17 overall and 16-4 PSAC West record. The Haven was the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) semifinalists and finished the season ranked third in the NCAA Division II Mid-Atlantic Region. This year’s signees are: Erica Eisenbise, Kristen Erb, Nancy O’Connor and Amanda Roosa.

Eisenbise who is from Wernersville, Pa. was an All-Division shortstop selection in 2004 and 2005 at Wilson High School. Wilson was the Berks County Division I runner up and Eisenbise was also a member the Rebelz 18-under 2004 Pony National Championship team. Her high school stats include a .385 batting average, 22 RBI’s, a .940 fielding average. Haven fans could see Eisenbise play at shortstop, second base or in the outfield. "Erica is a versatile athlete who has the ability to play many positions on the field.  Her positive attitude and solid work ethic will be welcome attributes to our program," said Lock Haven University head softball coach, Kelley Green.

Erb of Reading Pa. plays her high school ball at Exeter Township Senior High School where they where Berks County Division I Champion and captured the District III Championship. Erb was the 2003 and 2004 Berks County Player of the Year and joined Eisenbise as a member of the Rebelz 18-under 2004 Pony National Championship team. Her high school stats include a .422 batting average and a 22-4 record as a pitcher where she pitched 192 innings with a .255 ERA with 339 strike outs. "Kristin is a power pitcher who possesses a full arsenal of pitches,” said Green.  “She is dedicated, hard working and loves the game and will be a great addition to our pitching staff.”

O’Connor is an outfielder from West Chester Pa. She is a member of the West Chester East High School softball team that went 20-0 and captured Ches-Mont Championship in 2004. Last season she was the defensive player of the year and had an on base percentage of .483 as a junior. She also had a .333 batting average. "Nancy's experience in the outfield will be a great benefit to our program,” said Green.  “Her speed on the bases will fit right into our aggressive style of play." 

Roosa who could play either catcher or first base is from Pompton Lakes N.J. Last season, Rossa was First Team All County, First Team All League, and Third Team All State selection as a member as a member Pompton Lakes High School squad. Her stats include a .512 batting average, with 28 RBI’s and six homeruns. "Amanda is a very talented and powerful athlete,” said Green.  “Her strong presence and aggressiveness behind the plate will help lead our pitching staff to even greater success."

The 2005 edition of Lady Eagle softball will get things started on Feb. 25 at Shaw University.
