ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 25 Lock
Haven University softball team (6-2) split its first two
games of the Rebel Games Tournament today, losing to
Findlay University (1-0) 3-2 in eight innings before
beating the University of South Dakota (2-2) 6-3.
Centerfielder
Lynn Spiezio (Trooper, Pa./Methacton) went a
combined 5-for-9 with two RBI and a stolen base.
Against
Findlay, fielding hurt the Lady Eagles, as they committed
a season-high five errors. Junior pitcher
Jeanette
Middlestead (Downingtown, Pa./La Salle University)
threw seven strong innings with two unearned runs on three
hits, striking out three Oiler batters.
Sophomore
Stephanie Kinch
(Painesville, Ohio/Riverside)
fell to 1-1 with the loss for LHU.
Second
baseman
Heather Johnson
(Williamsport , Pa./Williamsport)
went 2-for-4, supported by Speizio’s 2-for-5 effort with
an RBI.
The
Lady Eagles smacked two home runs in the 6-3 victory over
South Dakota. Senior catcher
Julie Paterson
(Frederick, Md./Walkersville) supplied her second
four-bagger of the year, while
Julie Robatille
(Mississauga, Ontario/Chipola J.C.)
was 2-for-3 with a home run and a double, scoring two runs
and driving in two. Speizio added a 3-for-4 effort with an
RBI.
Junior
pitcher
Shona M. Guevara
(Chino Hills, Calif./Humboldt State University)
improved to 2-1, throwing a complete game, allowing just
two earned runs on five hits with three strikeouts.
Speizio,
Middlestead, Kinch, Johnson, Patterson, Robatille, Guevara
and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action
tomorrow, March 7, at 10:30 a.m. as they face the College
of St. Rose. |
