ORLANDO, Fla. – Powered by a
4-for-7, four RBI effort from senior centerfielder
Lynn Spiezio
(Trooper, Pa./Methacton), the Lock Haven University
softball team (7-3) beat the College of St. Rose (0-2) 4-3
before falling to Ashland University 4-3 in day two of the
Rebel Games Tournament in Orlando, Fla. today (March 7).
Against
St. Rose, Spiezio was 2-for-4, driving in three of the
four Lady Eagle runs. The senior had five total bases on
the day, knocking both a double and a triple.
Junior pitcher
Shona M. Guevara
(Chino
Hills,
Calif./Humboldt
State University)
earned the win in relief of starter
Molly Shuey (Tower
City,
Pa./Williams
Valley),
throwing two innings of hitless ball and striking out
four.
Guevara’s
bid to pick up two wins in the same day fell short, as she
threw a complete game, striking out six, while allowing
just two earned runs. Ashland plated the winning run in
the final inning. Guevara’s record dips to 3-2.
Junior
Julie Robatille
(Mississauga,
Ontario/Chipola J.C.)
finished the game at 3-for-4 with an RBI double. Spiezio
chipped in with two hits, a stolen base and an RBI, while
sophomore Amanda
Sheets (Hughesville,

was 2-for-4 with a run scored.
Spiezio, Guevara, Shuey,
Robatille, Sheets and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back
in action Tuesday, March 8 at 10:40 a.m. against Merrimack
