ORLANDO, Fla. – The Lock Haven
University softball team’s (11-5)
bats took a game to warm up, dropping a 2-1 decision to
the University of Southern Indiana (4-8) before blowing
out Dowling College (0-5) 11-0 today (March 11) at the
Rebel Spring Games. LHU finished with a 6-4 ledger at the
tournament.
Against
Southern Indiana, the Lady Eagles managed just five hits,
plating a run on a double by junior
Courtney Hughes (Schwenksville,Pa./Souderton).
Junior
Jeanette
Middlestead (Downingtown, Pa./La Salle University)
threw seven innings, allowing just six hits and fanning
seven in suffering the first loss of her LHU career (3-1).
In the
second game, hits were aplenty, as senior
Janet
Paterson (Frederick, Md./Walkersville), Hughes and
senior Lynn
Spiezio (Trooper, Pa./Methacton) all posted
multi-hit games. Patterson knocked two RBI doubles, as
Hughes added three RBI of her own.
Junior
Julie Robatille
(Mississauga, Ontario/Chipola J.C.)
had a two-RBI double and freshman
Missy Kurian (Bloomsburg, Pa./Bloomsburg)
plated the first run of her career on a pinch-hit double.
Junior
Shona M. Guevara
(Chino Hills, Calif./Humboldt State University)
went six innings with five strikeouts to improve her
record to 5-3.
Hughes,
Middlestead, Paterson, Spiezio, Robitaille, Kurian,
Guevara and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action
Thursday, March 17 at 2 p.m. as they host
No. 12 Bloomsburg University. |
