Training
Philosophy:
Wrestling is
both an art
and a
science, and
coaching
wrestlers
requires
sound
application
of the
theoretical
and
technical
elements of
the sports
to the
athlete's
experience.
Physical
preparation
includes a
variety of
training
modalities,
including
all forms of
strength
training
and
cardiovascular
conditioning,
training the
proper
energy
systems and
for the
specific
bio-motor
demands of
the sport.
This
training
will provide
the physical
foundation
for
mastering
and
executing
wrestling
skills and
techniques
at the
highest
levels. This
is
accomplished
through the
application
of sounds
principles
of training.
Success
at the
highest
levels
requires a
sound yearly
plan, based
on the
principles
of
periodization.
Training and
preparation
is a
yearlong
process,
learning and
developing
from
competition,
with a focus
on peak
performance
at the most
important
competitions.
