#11 Swimming De-Claws Lions, 72-44

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The Lock Haven University swimming team (3-0) won every event, toppling Penn State University-Altoona 72-44 tonight at Zimmerli Pool. Sophomore Nikki Cuddeback (Geigertown, Pa./Twin Valley) was a two-time winner, taking first in the 100 backstroke (1:19.22) and swimming the first leg of the top 200 freestyle relay.

After a 27-day layoff, the Lady Eagles returned in strong fashion, getting a key victory from Laura Barnsley (Glenn Rock, Pa./Susquehannock) in the 50 freestyle (27.48), and a pair of wins from Gerda Smirnova (Riga, Latvia) in the 100 freestyle (1:00.84) and the 200 freestyle (2:18.99).

Cuddeback, Barnsley, Smirnova and the rest of the Lady Eagles are back in action Friday-Saturday, Jan. 21-22 at California University (Pa.).
