CLARION, Pa. –
The No. 25 Lock Haven
University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team placed third
at the Clarion Invitational in its opening weekend of
competition. Tatiana Patakyova (Poprad-Matejouce,
Slovak Republic/Gymnazium Pop. Nabrezie) led the way for
the Lady Eagles, winning the 400-yard individual medley in
a school-record 4:48.09, topping Kate
Bonner’s
4:53.82.
Lock Haven posted a
total of 242.5 points, placing behind fellow Pennsylvania
State Athletic Conference (PSAC) teams Bloomsburg
University and host Clarion University. For the Haven,
four individuals and both ‘A’ relay squads finished in the
top three of their respective events.
Junior Katie Grieneisen
(Pittsburgh/Plum) finished second in the 1650-yard
freestyle at 19:21.29, and Isabel Carniero (Rio de
Janeiro, Brazil) also garnered a second-place finish in
the 110-yard butterfly with her 1:01.31.
Junior Diane Sujansky
(Plum, Pa./Plum) finished third in the 100-yard
breaststroke at 1:11.32, a PSAC championship qualifying
mark.
Patakyova, Grieneisen,
Carniero, Sujansky and the rest of the Lady Eagles take to
the pool again on Saturday, Oct. 30 at 1 p.m. when they
host East Stroudsburg University. |
