#25 Swimming Edges ESU for first Dual Win

LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – The No. 25 Lock Haven University of Pennsylvania women’s swim team (1-0) defeated East Stroudsburg by the slimmest of margins today at Zimmerli Pool, 131-130. Junior Tatiana Patakyova Poprad-Matejouce, Slovak Republic/Gymnazium Pop. Nabrezie) paced the Haven with two individual event wins and a relay win.

Patakyova won the 100-yard freestyle in 55.74, besting the top ESU competitor by nearly two seconds. She added a win in the 200-yard individual medley at 2:15.86 and held down the third leg of the 200-yard medley relay winner.

Also collecting individual victories for LHU were Katie Greiniesen (Pittsburgh/Plum) in both the 1000-yard freestyle (11:29.58) and 500-yard freestyle (5:35.66), Isabel Carneiro (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) in the 200-yard freestyle (2:02.69) and 100-yard butterfly (1:00.15), and the 200-yard butterfly (2:17.36) and Diane Sujansky (Plum, Pa./Plum) in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.28).

Patakyova, Grieneisen, Carniero, Sujansky and the rest of the Lady Eagles take to the pool again on Saturday, Nov. 6 at 1 p.m. when they host Mansfield University.
