LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Lock Haven University track and field teams made their second of three trips to Bucknell University a successful one, snapping two school records and making 39 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) qualifying times competing against only Division I teams at the Bucknell Heptagonal Saturday. The men’s team finished fourth out of six teams, while the women’s squad was fifth out of seven.

Sophomore Ryan Blood (Summerdale, Pa./East Pennsboro) posted an NCAA provisional mark with a second-place finish of 4:15.78 in the mile, and senior Chris Cowan (Horseheads, N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) hit for the only other NCAA provisional with a second-place 14:48.57 in the 5000 meters.

Junior Fieldon Daubert (Annville, Pa./Annville-Cleonia) posted second-place finishes and PSAC qualifying marks in both the shot put and weight throw. Joining Daubert in field success was sophomore Jim Dempsey (Blue Bell, Pa./Wissahickon) with a 6-foot-5 in the high jump, good for second place and a PSAC mark.

Freshman Ashley Hartman (Garrett, Pa./Berlin Brothers Valley) continues to make an immediate impact for the women’s squad, as she has set the school record in the 60 meters in each of her first four meets for LHU. The freshman sprinter also put together the top time in the PSAC in the 400 meters at 26.54.

Senior Brooke Rangi (Kawerau, New Zealand/Kawerau College) snapped the school mark in the 60 meter high hurdles, winning the event at 9.17. Freshman Nicole Kulp (Hatboro, Pa./William Tennent) topped the field in the triple jump and finished fifth in the long jump, both PSAC qualifying marks.

Rider University took the men’s team title, while host Bucknell won the women’s trophy.

Blood, Cowan, Daubert, Dempsey, Hartman, Rangi, Kulp and the rest of the LHU track and field teams will return to Bucknell for the Bucknell Pentathalon and Open Jan. 28-29.
