Men's Track Makes Noise at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – Competing on the biggest stage of the season, amongst Olympic qualifiers and national champions, members of the Lock Haven University men’s track and field team made others take notice at the Penn Relays yesterday (April 29). Two school records fell and three NCAA provisional marks were met by the Bald Eagles in yesterday’s action.

Sophomore Ryan Blood (Summerdale, Pa./East Pennsboro) took top honors, finishing fifth in the 5,000 meters, a school-record time of 14:18.91. Blood also earned an NCAA provisional for that time.

Two performers excelled in the 10,000 meters, senior Chris Cowan (Horseheads, N.Y./Thomas A. Edison) leading the way with a sixth-place finish in 30:00.03, snapping the school mark and hitting the NCAA provisional. Also provisionally-qualifying in the event was sophomore Aaron Benson (Mt. Jewett, Pa./Kane Area) in 15th place (30:31.74).

Junior William Buckenmeyer (Alexander, N.Y./Alexander Central) competed in the Olympic Development Steeplechase, taking 18th in 9:27.73.
